Walter

Walter is the main character in the show. He is an overqualified chemistry teacher who finds out that he has cancer and only a few years to live. The prospect of death and the fact that he has nothing to leave behind to his son and wife flips a switch in him. Walter, also known as Heisenberg, goes bad and teams up with his former student Jesse in cooking crystal meth.

At first, Walter breaks the law to gather money that would support his family after his passing. But, as he gets deeper into the criminal world, he loves the power his position gives him. That said, he is extremely manipulative and narcissistic. He believes that he is above everyone which ultimately leads to his downfall.

Jesse

Jesse is a high school dropout infamous for putting chili powder into his meth. Despite flunking Chemistry due to Walter, or as he calls him, Mr. White, Jesse partners with him in an attempt to create a drug empire. His addiction to meth causes their relationship to go sour at times.

That said, Jesse gives off vibes like he doesn’t even want to be breaking laws. Regardless of him being a criminal, you almost feel bad for him. Unlike Walter, he understands his place in the underground. However, he is easily manipulated by Walter.

Hank

Walter’s brother-in-law, Hank Schrader, is a DEA agent. He is boisterous and outspoken which can easily be interpreted as rude. Yet, Hank is the only person who really cares about Walter. One can only imagine what Hank was feeling when he found out that the person he was trying to capture was his sister’s beloved husband.

On the surface, he is a tough and composed guy. He is popular, cheerful, and loves bragging about his skills. However, beneath all that, he is a good-hearted family man. He loves playing fantasy football, and brews his own beer “Schraderbrau”.

Saul

At first glance, Saul is a low-tier lawyer. He promotes himself through television ads and billboards, something that other lawyers don’t do. That results in many people of a lower status turning to him for advice. But what they don’t know is that Saul is the man the biggest criminals and cartels go to when they have trouble with the law.

Despite his flamboyant appearance, Saul is deeply involved with the cartel and the criminal underworld. He is a competent lawyer known for finding loopholes to protect his clients. And when there isn’t one, Saul will make sure to create one.

Mike

Mike is a man you call when something needs to be done. He is a former cop who turned to the criminal world to help his daughter’s financial situation. Mike treats his job like it is any normal day job. He respects those above him, makes calculated decisions, and never chooses a path that could potentially compromise the whole operation. When he first met Walter, he famously noted that he would cause trouble.

Mike is responsible for making sure that Gustavo Fring’s operation runs as smoothly as possible. He is highly intelligent and controls a group of underlings. Lastly, he is a skilled assassin.
