Charlie Spring

Charlie Spring is one of the main characters of the show. He has a slim build and is considered tall at 5’9”. He has blue eyes and naturally curly black hair. His usual attire consists of classic teenager clothes; a plaid shirt, ripped skinny jeans, and white sneakers. Charlie is always cold. He “borrows” his boyfriend’s oversized jumpers to warm up, as well as to hide his slim body.

Charlie has an altered personality due to constant bullying by his peers. He overthinks everything, he’s very sensitive, and apologizes for the tiniest thing. His hobbies include reading, playing with dogs, and playing drums.

Nick Nelson

Nick is a strong rugby player that towers over other characters. On the first look, he is seen as a brute. An empty-minded rugby player. Upon befriending Charlie he shows his softer side. He is kind, sweet, goofy, and open-minded. After developing feelings for Charlie, he questions his sexuality. In the end, he ends up being an open bisexual.

He is an incredibly loving person. He is often holding Charlie, picking him up, or kissing him on the cheek. However, his love is sometimes misguided. For instance, he urges Charlie to speak to his parents regarding his eating disorder. When that leads nowhere, he gets overwhelmed because he doesn’t know how to help Charlie.

Tao Xu

Tao is the tallest member of the group standing at 6’3”. He is always seen wearing his signature beanies. He is very protective of Charlie. When Nick started showing feelings towards Charlie, Tao was skeptical of his intentions. In season two he revealed that he latches onto his friends because he fears that people will leave him.

He suffers from low self-esteem. He finds it hard to believe that Elle would want to be anything other than friends with him. Also, he is very loud by his nature. On one occasion, he was speaking about Charlie’s sexuality at school which resulted in others overhearing it. Tao sank into depression and was too ashamed to face Charlie when that happened.

Elle Argent

Elle is a sweet, caring girl with dark brown wavy hair and hazel eyes. She’s always wearing sun dresses or skirts that she makes herself. Elle is a trans girl who was forced to transfer to Harvey Greene Grammar School for Girls after getting bullied by her peers.

Despite dealing with the constant bullying and negativity around her, Elle remained her true self. She’s creative and artistic, with dreams of attending an art school after graduating.

Isaac Henderson

Isaac is the third musketeer with Charlie and Tao. He was revealed to be aromatic asexual in a tweet by Alice Oseman. He is an introverted bookworm who is always seen either reading or studying. Isaac doesn’t contribute a lot, but on the rare occasions that he does, his input is always comforting and wise.
