Career In Europe
As the son of a basketball player, Luka came across basketball at a young age. In fact, he was only 7 months old when he first touched the basketball. Throughout his youth he always excelled over his peers, giving him a chance to play abroad in Spain. He had a shaky transition, as would any teenager moving to another country without even having the ability to speak the language. But that didn’t slow down his growth.
At the age of 16, he played his first professional basketball game. Just two years later he would go on to become the youngest ever EuroLeague MVP. Luka was so dominant in Europe he was voted in the team of the decade with just 3 full seasons under his belt.
Entering The NBA
Later that year he would sign up for the NBA draft and get selected 3rd by Atlanta Hawks. During the draft day, he got traded to Dallas Mavericks, in exchange for Trae Young. There was a lot of controversy regarding Luka. Public perception was that he was too slow and chubby for fast-paced NBA games.
They can’t be blamed for having that assumption, since they were completely right about that. What they didn’t consider is Luka’s ability to make everyone play the game at his pace. After just three years in the NBA, he is destined to become MVP in the short future.
He already owns numerous accolades such as 4 triple-double games as a teenager (there have been 2 other games besides him in the whole NBA history), Rookie of the Year, and multiple All-Star selections.
