She demonstrates her love and generosity while she is with them. They must, however, be cautious when others harm her family. Wendy can become icy and calculated.

Charlotte Byrde

Charlotte is yearning to return to her previous life after her father abruptly relocated the family to a new place. Her problem is managing her frustrations. She needs her parents to tell her all the truth about what's happening in their lives. More than that, she aspires to be a typical adolescent.

She is snarky, has thick skin, and is a compassionate person. Charlotte is a feisty girl who isn't afraid to defend herself or her family. Despite her regular disputes with her parents, she demonstrates that she cares for them.

Jonah Byrde

Jonah is a nature-loving student. He is fascinated by several animals and researches them. Now that they've moved to the Ozarks, he's grown infatuated with scavenger birds like ravens, starlings & turkey vultures. 

He is quiet, kind, and well-informed. Because his sister is more outspoken than he is, Jonah feels like he lives in his sister's shadow. Jonah has a lot of views and insights, although he doesn't speak much. His thoughts are constantly racing, and he has a few major secrets of his own.

Ruth Langmore

Ruth lives with her cousins & uncles in a trailer park on the borders of the Lake of the Ozarks. Cade, her abusive and manipulative father, is in prison. Ruth has become tougher because she grew up in a troubled environment.
