Polysexuality was introduced long ago before bisexuality included more than two genders. Additionally, even today people think that bisexuality means attraction to only men and women. Thus, the term polysexuality is greatly needed. Polysexual folk may be attracted to men, nonbinary, transgender, or any other gender.
Polysexual vs Omnisexual
When discussing different sexualities, polysexuality is usually followed by omnisexuality. Omnisexuality is very similar to pansexuality. The word “omni” means “all”. Just like pansexual folk, omnisexual people may be attracted to anyone regardless of their gender. However, the person’s gender is still an important factor for them.
Meaning, polysexual people may be attracted to many genders but not all of them. Whereas, omnisexual people may be attracted to all genders.
