Knowing if you are abroromantic can be a fruitless task. Abroromantic people share many similarities with biromantic, omniromantic, and panromantic folk. This quiz will help you distinguish these labels from one another.

Who Is Abroromantic?

Romantic orientation is a complex topic. It has emerged only recently and there are still many questions surrounding it. Some terms such as aromantic or polyromantic are well known, but only some people know about less popular terms like abroromantic.

Abroromantic is a form of romantic orientation adopted by people who experience changes in their romantic orientation. The change in attraction can happen to anyone, but for abroromantic folk it's different. They may experience a change in their orientation over the course of months, weeks, or even days. 

The word “abro” comes from the Greek word “habros” meaning “graceful” or “delicate”. It shares the same prefix with abrosexuality leading some people to use the two terms interchangeably. However, they are different labels describing different types of orientation.

Difference Between Abroromantic and Abrosexual

For a long time, people believed that an individual's sexual and romantic orientation are the same. However, that is not the case. The romantic and sexual orientations are two separate things that don’t always go hand in hand. 

That is the case for abroromanticism and abrosexuality. A person who is abroromantic has fluid romantic attraction. They may be attracted to two or more genders romantically. On the other hand, an abrosexual person is sexually attracted to two or more genders. Simply put, abroromanticism refers to a person’s romantic orientation, while abrosexuality describes someone’s sexual orientation.

Am I Abroromantic or Panromantic?

Abroromantic and panromantic people have a lot in common. They are both attracted to multiple genders. So why is there a need for two terms? An abroromantic individual is attracted to two or more genders, but not all of them. Moreover, the intensity they are attracted to a specific gender can change over time.

Whereas a panromantic individual may be attracted to anyone regardless of their gender. These folk do not take the gender of their potential partner into consideration. It is completely irrelevant to them. 

Abroromantic vs Omniromantic

As mentioned previously, abroromantic people are romantically attracted to multiple genders. That can be two or more, but never all genders. Omniromanticism is slightly different. 

Just like panromantic folk, omniromantic folk may be attracted to any person regardless of their gender. But, the gender of the person they are attracted to is still relevant to them. Therefore, they might have a preference for one gender over another.
