Otis

Otis Milburn is the main character of the show. He is an awkward teenager who has no sexual experience. Ironically enough, his mother is a well-known sex therapist from whom he learned a lot about therapy. 

He starts a Sex Clinic on the school’s campus alongside Maeve to help the students with any sex-related questions that they might have. After their fallout, the clinic closes and Otis is left with a hole that nothing can fill.

He is smart, and well-mannered but also socially awkward. Some of his other personality traits include anxiety and sensitivity.

Maeve

Maeve is the girl that everyone at Moordale Secondary School knows about. But not for a good reason. She is a social outcast labeled as a “bad girl”. Maeve embraces that image others portrayed of her and generally keeps to herself.

While being a tough rock on the outside, Maeve is a kind soul that loves helping others. She is very intelligent and is even invited to study abroad. She has a sarcastic personality combined with a sardonic and morbid sense of humor. 

Her mother was a drug addict who abandoned her. Due to that, she has issues opening up and generally trusting others. In Season 3, she is faced with a hard choice where she has to call the child services to take her sister away from her mom.

Eric

Eric is Otis’s best friend. He comes from a religious Nigerian background, which at first poses a problem due to his sexuality. His close family knows that he is gay, but they’re keeping it a secret from his distant relatives.

He loves using clothing and fashion as a way of expressing himself. His favorite clothing is always vibrant and colorful. You will never see Eric wearing a plain boring t-shirt.  

Eric is (almost) always happy and outgoing. He is fun, loud, and keeps a positive face at all times.

Adam

Adam comes from an abusive home. His father is a harsh, old-school principal at the Moordale Secondary School. He has bad grades and schools and often picks on smaller students like Eric to let go of his frustration.

He finds out that he might be gay during his confrontation with Eric in the finale of Season 1. After that, he’s sent to the military school from where he’s shortly kicked out. Following that he and Eric become a couple. 

Adam is embarrassed about his homosexuality which often causes problems between him and Eric. He doesn’t like displaying it publicly which is completely opposite of Eric. Moreover, he doesn’t believe that anyone really cares about him. After signing up for a dog competition and inviting people, he begins to see that there are people that like him. He tries to get better at school, and even works on improving his relationship with his father.

Aimee

Unlike her best friend Maeve who doesn’t know what she wants to do in her life, Aimee is set on being a baker. She’s a sweet, caring person who often struggles with saying no to others. 

After getting sexually assaulted on the bus at school she pushed her friends and family away. Furthermore, she was keeping her boyfriend Steve in the dark about what happened. She was afraid to break up with him until starting therapy with Jean.

Jackson

Jackson is a star athlete with a bright future ahead of him. But there’s a catch. Jackson suffers from pressure-related anxiety. His mothers put a lot of pressure on him and he doesn’t want to fail them. He even intentionally hurts his hand so that he won’t be able to swim. 

Jackson is a smart, genuine, funny, and sweet person. He falls in love with Cal, a new student at Moordale. Cal is non-binary and Jackson has a hard time not seeing them as a girl. Due to that, they don’t get together.

Lily

Lily is desperate to lose her virginity. She doesn’t necessarily care whom she does it with, or how it happens. She believes that if she loses her virginity, she won’t be left behind by her peers.

In her spare time, she loves drawing comics about her sexual fantasies which involve aliens. Other students often make fun of her for it. The bullying becomes the worst in season 3 at which point she stops going to the school and throws away all of her alien stuff.

Lily is bi-sexual. She finds out after falling out with Ola in season 2. On another note, she’s quiet and often seen as eccentric due to her unique fashion and hairstyle choices.

Rahim

The moment he joined Moordale, he caused quite a stir in the school. He was instantly one of the most popular students due to his good looks. Ruby tries to get with him but fails miserably. There’s a good explanation for that though.

Rahim is an out-of-the-closet homosexual. He doesn’t hide it and openly hits on Eric at the ferris wheel. He is a sensible, romantic character who loves poetry.
