Based on the Webtoon Hellbound by Yeon Sang-ho, Hellbound is another South Korean TV masterpiece. The story follows several main characters who want to unravel what is happening in the world. 

There are supernatural beings who appear out of thin air and condemn people to hell. These events put the world in panic mode, letting various cults grow in size, most notably the religious group “The New Earth”.

Jeong Jin-soo

Portrayed by Yoo Ah-in, Jeon Jin-soo is charismatic, but a mysterious leader of the New Truth Society. He keeps everyone at the edge of their seat trying to figure out what his motives and the next move are. He’s immensely popular and reaches his peak fame when the Executioners appear.

Moreover, Jeong knew about the existence of Executioners and tried to convince the world. In fact, he knew that he was Hellbound for 20 years.

Min Hye-jin

Min Hye-jin is an unflinching lawyer played by Kim Hyun-joo. Her main goal is bringing vigilantes such as Arrowhead and New Truth Society to justice. 

When not dealing with criminals, Min takes care of her sick mother who has cancer. Her death absolutely devastated Min. She’s the most badass character in the show with exceptional physical and mental strength.

Bae Young-jae

Bae Young-jae is a well-respected TV producer. He works on documentaries to expose the real truth about the “New Truth Society”. Bae is sure in his convictions and doesn’t try to hide the fact he despises the cult. 

He is married to So-hyun and recently became a father. Upon finding out that his family is in danger, he uses his influence to try and save them. He risks his life on multiple occasions showcasing how strong, wise and heroic he is. 

Song So-hyun

The birth of her child should have been Song So-hyun’s best moment in her life. But that took an opposite turn immediately.

After giving birth, So-hyun and her newborn Toughie are visited by an angel and given a prophecy that the child will die in 3 days. Knowing what’s about to happen, she and her husband Bae try to do everything to save their family. She stays with her baby until the end, refusing to let it go. In the end, she even tries to outsmart the Executioners in an attempt to save her child.

Jin Kyung-hoon

After the death of his wife 6 years ago, Kyung-hoon lost all enthusiasm about anything. He is a detective who tries to solve tragic cases related to the “angels of death”. Alongside that, he’s also investigating the New Truth Society and their peculiar leader Jeong Jin-soo.

The character is played by Yang Ik-joon, most known for the 2008 movie Breathless. In Hellbound he portrays paternal love while trying to protect his daughter. He sacrifices the truth and his principles to get another chance at having a relationship with his daughter.
