History Of Ferrari

Ferrari was founded in Maranello where they still operate from by Enzo Ferrari. The cars they produced between 1950 and the 1960s were some of the most expensive cars in the world. On top of that, they cater to the more rich folk. They are not focused on consumer cars, but rather their prestige. Therefore it is no wonder Ferrari is a synonym for supercars.

Ferrari became a public company in 1960 and operated as a Fiat subsidiary from 1963 to 2016. Enzo’s death in 1988 brought a ton of changes to the company. In his place came Luca Cordero di Montezemelo under whom the company thrived. The profit, the F1 success, and the production all increased tenfold.

Motorsport

Ferrari is renowned for their dominance in the most prestigious motorsport on the planet, Formula 1. They are the oldest and most successful team in the series. They have been racing for almost a century, having joined the competition in 1929. While there have been several droughts throughout the years, they have won 16 constructor championships. Niki Lauda, Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, Alberto Ascari, Jody Schecter, and countless more talented drivers all drove their F1 cars.

Ferrari also competed in other sports car racing like Le Mans and World Sportscar Championships. They won 24 Hours of Le Mans 10 times before retiring from the sport in 1973. They re-entered the Endurance Championship in 2023 which they topped off with a victory.
